A set of temporary rules were voted in at the October 13, 2001 meeting to facilitate smooth operation. It is expected a more formal set of rules will be established in the future. Meeting Rules/Guidelines for "Citizens for a Better Brunswick™" 1. All meetings are open to the public and everyone is welcome and encouraged to attend. This includes, but is in no way limited to: Brunswick residents, residents of surrounding communities, owners of businesses in the city, members of City Council or the city administration, city employees and their families.2. Citizens for a Better Brunswick’ will have no membership. It is not necessary to officially join the group. You may attend as many meetings as you like, depending on your interest and availability. 3. The President, or a person designated by the President will officiate at the meetings.4. In order to ensure that everyone gets a chance to speak and that different viewpoints may be expressed the following process will be followed: a. Raise your hand and wait to be recognized by the President or whomever is officiating at the meeting. b. Only one person may speak at a time. c. Limit your comments to approximately 3 minutes. d. If you have additional comments to add, you will be given that opportunity after everyone else has had a chance to speak. 5. When a vote needs to be taken the procedure will be as follows. a. A motion to vote must be made by a Brunswick resident. b. The motion must then be seconded by a Brunswick resident. c. All Brunswick residents present at the meeting may vote. You must be present at the meeting in order to vote. d. Persons present at a meeting who are not residents of Brunswick will not be eligible to vote. e. A motion will be considered ‘passed’ when there is a majority voting in favor of the motion. |
