Thank you for circulating a petition to change the form of government in Brunswick. Please read over this page before collecting signatures to ensure that the signatures you collect will be valid. Please visit www.betterbrunswick.com to review information about the proposed changes so that you will be able to better answer any questions that you may be asked.

1 Signatures must be from Brunswick registered voters. If someone is not registered, or they have moved, you may give them a voter registration form to fill out and then they may sign the petition. (Turn the registration form in with the petition)
2. Only one person may circulate each petition page. If both you and your spouse are collecting signatures, then you each must have your own petition page.
3. You MUST carry the five-page comparison with you at all times so that anyone wishing to compare the current charter with the proposed amendments may do so before signing.
4. You must personally witness each signature. A person may only sign their own name!! Under no circumstances can anyone sign for another person.
5. Signatures may not be printed. But, if a signature is illegible (you can’t read the name) they must print their name on the line below (just skip that line when the next person signs). The address must also be legible.
6. If a mistake is made, draw a line through the entire petition line and have them start again on the next line. Dates must be correct.
7. If someone doesn’t know their ward or precinct, look it up on the map for them so they can fill in all required blanks.
8. You must not offer any incentive, reward, or payment to anyone for signing the petition. You also must not in anyway intimidate anyone into signing.
9. Be sure you sign the petition in the appropriate space when you are finished collecting signatures and enter the total number of signatures on that page in the space provided.
10. Return petition forms as soon as possible so that we may track our progress. Even if you didn’t fill the whole page, they must be returned.
11. Only citizens of Brunswick can circulate petitions! (Charter section 10.02)

PETITION FORMS MUST BE RETURNED NO LATER THAN JULY 1, 2002.
