Many people have expressed an interest in changing Brunswick from a "City Manager" form of government (where the city is run by a city manager hired by Council) to a "Strong-Mayor" form of government (where the city is run by a mayor elected by the people).

This change can ONLY be made by putting the issue on the ballot for the voters to decide which form of government they prefer.

YOU CAN HELP PUT THIS ISSUE ON THE NOVEMBER BALLOT!!

City Council is legally bound to put the issue on the ballot when they receive a petition with signatures from 10% of the registered voters. These petition forms are now available. Over 2060 signatures must be collected (the board of elections has 20,600 voters registered for the city of Brunswick)

Forms and instructions are available by:

1) Sending an email to Karla McIntosh

OR

2) Attending the CBB meeting the first Saturday of each month, 10:00 am in the Brunswick Public Library Board Room

OR

3) Calling 330-280-1346 or 330-273-6292 (please leave a message)

You can collect signatures just by asking your family, friends and neighbors. Only residents of Brunswick can circulate petitions!

"Walk Lists" of registered voters will be available after the May election so you can ask registered voters in your neighborhood.

This is an opportunity for each of us to really make a difference in our community.

I look forward to working with you,

Karla McIntosh

President-Citizens for a Better Brunswick

The right to vote freely for the candidate of one's choice is of the essence of a democratic society, and any restrictions on that right strike at the heart of representative government.

- Chief Justice Earl Warren

Cowardice asks the question - is it safe? Expediency asks the question - is it politic? Vanity asks the question - is it popular? But conscience asks the question - is it right? And there comes a time when one must take a position that is neither safe, nor politic, nor popular; but one must take it BECAUSE it is right.

- Dr. Martin Luther King

(The "Ballot Issue Committee" for this issue is registered with the Medina County Board of Elections as: "Citizens for the Right to Elect")

The right of voting for representation is the primary right by which other rights are protected.
